Terms & Conditions
Effective 19 July 2026
1. Agreement
These terms apply to the Selune mobile application and the selune.ai website (together, “Selune”). By installing or using Selune you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use Selune.
2. What Selune is
Selune is an offline-first journal for dreams and notes. It records, transcribes, organises, and analyses your entries entirely on your device. Selune has no server component: we do not host, receive, or back up your journal.
3. Your licence to use the app
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Selune on devices you own or control, for your own personal use. You may not redistribute, sell, or sublicense the app, or attempt to extract its source code except where the law expressly permits it.
4. Your content stays with you — so does its safekeeping
Everything you create in Selune belongs to you and remains on your device. That also means you are responsible for keeping it safe: if your device is lost, reset, or the app is uninstalled, your journal cannot be recovered by us, because we never had a copy. Please use Selune's encrypted backup or device-to-device transfer if your journal matters to you.
5. Backups and your passphrase
Backups and transfers are encrypted with a passphrase you choose. There is no account and no server, so there is nothing to reset: if you lose the passphrase, that backup is permanently unreadable — by you, by us, by anyone. Keep it somewhere safe.
6. AI models and third-party components
On first use, Selune downloads open AI model files (for transcription, titling, and search) from our model host. These models are third-party works distributed under their own open licences. The AI-generated titles, tags, and dream details are produced automatically on your device and may occasionally be wrong, odd, or incomplete — treat them as suggestions, not facts.
7. Acceptable use
Do not use Selune to break the law, and do not interfere with, probe, or disrupt the website or the model downloads (for example by scraping at abusive volume).
8. Not medical advice
Selune's statistics — emotions, patterns, moon-phase correlations — exist for curiosity and self-reflection. They are not medical, psychological, or diagnostic advice. If your sleep or dreams are distressing you, please talk to a professional.
9. Disclaimer of warranty
Selune is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, arising from your use of (or inability to use) Selune. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
11. Changes to the app and these terms
We may update Selune and these terms over time. Material changes to the terms will be reflected on this page with a new effective date. Continuing to use Selune after a change means you accept the updated terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, and any dispute that cannot be settled amicably belongs to the competent Dutch court. If you use Selune as a consumer elsewhere in the EU, you keep any protection your own country's law grants you that this clause cannot take away.
13. Termination
You can stop using Selune at any time by uninstalling it. We may stop distributing the app or providing the model downloads at any time; the app you already installed will keep working offline.
