Privacy Policy

The short version: Selune collects nothing. Your journal — entries, recordings, tags, statistics — is stored only on your device and is never transmitted anywhere. The app has no accounts, no analytics, and no tracking of any kind.
1. Who we are
Selune is developed and published by Jarno (“we”, “us”), based in the Netherlands. You can reach us at [email protected].
2. What the app stores — and where
Everything you create in Selune stays in the app's private storage on your device:
- journal entries (text and voice recordings) and their transcriptions;
- titles, tags, and dream details generated by the on-device AI;
- search indexes, statistics, and your in-app settings.
None of this is uploaded, synced, or shared. We cannot read it, and neither can anyone else who doesn't have your unlocked phone. Deleting the app deletes this data with it.

3. What leaves your device
Selune's only use of the internet is downloading its AI model files, in-app, at your request. Those downloads are plain file requests to our model host; like any web request, they expose your IP address to the server that fulfils them. No journal content, identifiers, or usage data are sent with them — the download is software only, one way, onto your device.
Moving your journal to another phone happens over your local network only: after you scan a pairing code, the two devices connect directly to each other and the archive travels encrypted from one to the other. Nothing touches the internet, and no copy is retained anywhere but the receiving phone.
When you export a backup or share a dream card, the file goes wherever you point the system share sheet or file picker. If you choose a third-party destination (your own cloud storage, a messaging app), that upload is your action under that provider’s terms — Selune itself sends nothing.
Beyond these — each one started by you — Selune makes no network requests.
4. Permissions the app asks for
- Microphone — used only while you are recording an entry. Recordings are saved to the device and transcribed on the device.
- Camera — used only to scan the pairing code on your other phone when you transfer your journal. It takes no photos and stores nothing.
- Notifications — used for optional reminders. They are scheduled locally on your device; no push service is involved.
- Internet — used solely for the in-app model download described above.
- Local network — used solely for device-to-device transfer between your own phones.
Selune asks for no storage permissions. Saving a card to your gallery asks once for permission to add images — never to read them: Selune cannot see what is already in your library, and does not ask to. Sharing instead goes through the system's own share sheet, which gives the app access only to the destination you choose.
5. Backups and transfer
Backups are yours from end to end. You start them, a passphrase you choose encrypts them, and you decide where the file goes. The passphrase never leaves your device and we cannot recover it — a backup without its passphrase cannot be opened by us or anyone else. Device-to-device transfer works the same way: encrypted, local, between your phones.
6. Analytics and tracking
There are none. Selune contains no analytics SDKs, no crash reporters, no advertising identifiers, and no third-party trackers.
7. The Play Store
If you install Selune from Google Play, Google processes some data (such as your account and device information) under its own terms and privacy policy. That processing is between you and Google; we receive only the aggregate install statistics that Google shows every developer. The same goes for ratings: the review card and the store listing are Google Play surfaces, and anything you submit there goes to Google, not to us.
8. This website
selune.ai is a static site. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and loads all of its assets — including fonts — from its own server. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (IP address, requested page, time) for security and operations.
9. Your data and the GDPR
Selune is built so that your data-protection rights are satisfied by design rather than by request. Your journal is processed only on your device, by software running under your control; we operate no server that receives, stores, or can access any of it. Reading, correcting, exporting, and erasing your data are all things you do directly in the app — and uninstalling it removes everything, because no copy exists anywhere else.

10. Children
Selune is not directed at children under 13, and since the app collects no personal data, we never knowingly process any child's information.
11. Changes to this policy
If we ever change how Selune handles data, we will update this page and change the date at the top before the new behaviour ships. Given the app's design, we expect changes to be rare and boring.
